Final report: Interior Lifestyle China 2023 – Shenzhen Edition amplifies confidence in the Chinese market

After a hiatus, China’s leading trade fair for interior decoration and lifestyle has made a successful comeback, concluding with positive in-person business interaction on the show floor. Nearly 100 international interior design brands from 14 countries and regions took part in this Shenzhen edition, which was held from 13 – 15 September 2023 at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center. Together with the co-located China (Shenzhen) Cross-border E-commerce Exhibition (CCBEC), this special edition recorded 56,711 visits. A wide spectrum of buyers representing retailers, designers and e-commerce platforms attended the fair to actively pursue new business, exploring products from designer brands and capturing inspiration from the latest trends.

New dates, new venue: Interior Lifestyle China moves to Shenzhen to unlock Greater Bay Area potential

To capitalise on high per capita spending in Shenzhen and the wider Greater Bay Area market, China's leading home décor and lifestyle trade fair is heading to this vibrant city for its upcoming 16th edition. The relocation brings the added advantage of running concurrently with the Autumn edition of China (Shenzhen) Cross-Border E-commerce Fair (CCBEC) – guaranteeing a strong turnout of relevant buyers from the consumer goods industry. Instead of its previously scheduled late September dates in Shanghai, the upcoming edition will now take place from 13 – 15 September 2023 at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Centre.

Interior Lifestyle China pushed back to 2023 due to travel restrictions

With pandemic travel restrictions continuing to hamper Interior Lifestyle China’s large contingent of international exhibitors, the organisers have decided to reschedule the 14th edition of the fair to 2023. The fair, which was previously set to take place September this year, is well known for drawing in crowds and exhibitors from across the world.

Originally due to take place this September, Interior Lifestyle China, the country’s leading international event for the consumer goods sector, will now be held in September 2022 at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre. The decision was made due to travel restrictions likely remaining in place in the lead up to the fair, impacting international participation in the event.

Interior Lifestyle China to return in September 2021 with restructured product zones supporting industry recovery

In light of industry disruption caused by Covid-19, Interior Lifestyle China 2021 will adopt an apt new show theme: ‘Life Re-connect’. Taking place from 16 – 18 September, the fair will support business recovery by providing a live, physical event, in conjunction with additional online services. The adjusted show dates were chosen to better fit into the global event calendar. Moreover, this year, a structural change to the product groupings will see products allocated in new zones to better suit domestic buyer’s needs and their distribution channels. Interior Lifestyle China will once again be held at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre.

Interior Lifestyle China to take place in September 2021

China’s leading international trade fair for the consumer goods sector, Interior Lifestyle China, is to be postponed from its September 2020 date, and will now take place in September 2021 at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre. With the fair’s focus on serving China’s growing consumer goods import market and the international makeup of the exhibitors (27 countries & regions in 2019), Messe Frankfurt made this decision to give these companies more certainty in their planning for the remainder of the year given the possibility of travel restrictions remaining in place.

As the 2018 Interior Lifestyle China concluded on 15 September, participants endorsed the effectiveness of the fair regarding two of its central elements: having both a strong high-end lifestyle focus that reflects the latest consumer demands & lifestyle trends, as well as being an effective business platform to take advantage of the continuing potential in the Chinese market. In total, 437 exhibitors from 27 countries and regions participated in the 13 – 15 September fair (2017: 395, while the 23,570 visitors in attendance represented a 2 per cent increase compared to 2017.

International brand participation to increase at Interior Lifestyle China 2018

With the recruitment period for exhibitors still ongoing, the confirmed participation of overseas brands is already higher than 2017. International exhibitors can also benefit from a new, innovative promotion campaign pre-fair to increase their brand awareness and test products in the market. Around 400 Chinese and international companies are expected at the fair which will once again be held at the majestic Shanghai Exhibition Center from 13 – 15 September, which coincides with the peak sourcing period for the industry in Shanghai.
